Mommy Purchases: My new best friends

After the wonders that my body has gone through in giving birth to Abraham, it's about time i get new friends that will perfectly suit my situation now.

I purchased Bio Oil online after I have researched and have seen its before and after pictures for stretchmarks. Mine isn't the tiger stripes kind but I would rather improve their appearance while they are still new.

Bio Oil is formulated to help improve the appearance of scars, stretch marks and uneven skin tone. Its main ingridient is PureCellin Oil, which is also effective for ageing and dehydrated skin.

I got the 125ml for 1100 Php.

the product needs to be applied 3x a day for three months.

I started using it today. I'll give everyone an update while I monitor its effectiveness.

My 2nd new friend is very handy and is just what I need now. Nursing Abraham is my everyday routine. However, my nipples are getting sore. I don't want to stop nursing him and rely on formulas. It was laziness on my part when I had Megan. I thought I was not producing enough milk only to realize later on that latching stimulates the glands to produce milk. So this time, I am very careful not to commit the same errors.

Yan ordered me Motherlove nipple cream. It is a softening salve for use on sore, cracked nursing nipples. What is good about it is that it is safe for baby's ingestion and is certified organic.

this post pregnancy makes me feel like I'm going through motherhood for the first time. But this time, it's for improving for the best.

♥ blogging from my fone ♥

My Delivery Day Experience

I am blogging from my fone so i can still multitask in taking care of my two babies, and still update the social media.

Finally, I gave birth to the cutest and handsome baby boy for me. ♥

Feb 28 pm

My doctor gave me a prescription to take Castor oil so i can induce my labor. I was on my 39th week. I took the same oil when i was pregnant with Megan. It's supposed to make you go to the restroom and discharge your bowels. But it was different for me. Same with what happened to my pregnancy with Megan, i took it after dinner. At the middle of the night, i was awaken by a sudden gush of water. My waterbag broke.

March 1 - 1am

We got to St. lukes and i was immediately taken to one of the rooms while waiting for my contractions to become strong. I heard a woman from the other room shouting in pain. I said to myself "can it really be that painful? Wa poise naman..." She was asking if she can already get an epidural but the nurses were waiting for her doctor's order. I overheard she was at 5cm.

My nurse came and told me to let her know if it's already painful so I can be given the epidural. I said i will. I wanted to know how painful it can get so i waited. there were pains but i challenged myself to bore them. 3am. I can still smile...

At 4am, my OB arrived. He did an internal exam and i was at 7cm. Now it started to be really painful... but i didn't lose my poise calling all the saints. I just closed my eyes and took a lot of short breaths. It was all i can do at that time.

430 am

I was taken to the operating room to get my epidural. It was the most painful part for me because I was crying when they injected the needle in my spinal cord. Both the strong contraction and the coldness in my spine made me cry with sobs.

After being taken back to the delivery room, everything felt so easy. i wasn't feeling any pain anymore. I couldn't feel my legs. I farted a few times... shameful, but i had no control of my lower body.

530 am

I was checked again. Surprisingly, I was at 10cm. they took me to the operating room. "this is it!" When my legs were spread, the nurses and my doctor looked like characters from HOUSE and i was their subject. it was a rare experience for them to see that my baby's head was coming out on its own... not much effort needed. i was told that we would need to wait for a contraction then i would need to push. i only pushed twice. a few seconds more Abraham was out. Really... that was it? (^_^) I was relieved to see my baby boy for the first time. this delivery felt so much better than being sedated, like what happened when i had Megan.

I would like to consider myself lucky because my body was in top shape for giving birth... but it is not about luck at all. i am thankful i prepared my body for this big wonder it did by taking supplements. i was walking on my second day and it feels as if i didn't give birth at all.

But of course, no matter how good i feel on the outside, my body still needs to heal inside. thus, i am still taking all the time i need to rest so i can function perfectly without harming my body.

My adorable Abraham made March one of the most unforgettable months of the year!

Day 8 of 2013: It's sooo Hooottt!

I wouldn't be surprised that the temperature is getting warmer and warmer everyday. But the worst thing that could happen is for your most relied upon airconditioning unit to break down when you need it the most. Yan bought our AC just before I gave birth to Megan. Given that, the unit is almost 4 years old now. It was laziness on our part not to ensure that we have it regularly checked. I only remember one time when we had it cleaned. After that- no more!

It was working fine last Saturday night. When it's already cold, it normally goes to fan mode. When it did, that was the time when Yan turned it off. The next morning, when we turned it on- it was stuck in the fan mode forever. Oh you couldn't imagine our dismay! It was a hot day, PLUS!!! a pregnant woman feels extra warmer so I was already sweaty even if they weren't. It was really hot. Yan found an air cooler that was just in the sala. We used it because were desperate. However, it didn't work at all. The air became humid. The second night came and we were still without an AC.

Today, we finally found someone to check it. The motor was busted. Manong priced us 3,500 Php for the new motor, the cleaning, and for freon. We didn't question the price anymore. We really wanted it repaired. And as of 630pm today, tada!!!! Our AC works like its brand new!!!

They say we always have to learn from events. What I learned from this is that we should all take good care of the things that give us goodness. Whatever it is, caring is needed. Like in a relationship, if you do not pause and give one proper care, it will breakdown eventually. Not all things can be repaired and can work like brand new. So... never neglect things and most specially people around you.

And don't forget to apply this to yourself too. Sometimes, we work so hard for the people we love that we do not take the time to pause and check if our body is getting enough rest and nourishment that it needs. All we know is that we are still young and our body can take it. But remember that we have to take good care of our body not when it gets sick but when it is at its peak of good health. A lot of good products are available now to ensure that we maintain good health. It is up to us to take action.

Now, I am happy because I know we'll all have a good sleep.

It's going to be a cold night! :)

To LIVE a 100 years old? (Inspired by the New Coca Cola Commercial)

You’ve probably seen Lolo Mario. He’s a 100 year old grandfather who visited his granddaughter when she gave birth. And while he was travelling to the city to see the baby, he was giving his message for this little one.

My name is Lolo Mario

And in my 100 years of life

I have been lucky

Lucky to have been born like you

To have friends and family

To live happy to this day

You have been born in challenging times

The world is a big place

It’s easy to get lost

To guide you, my advice is simple

GO FIND WHAT MAKES YOU HAPPY

Time flies so fast

Don’t waste it on nonsense

And no matter where you end up

Don’t forget where you came from

Looking back on all my years

I am grateful for every moment spent

with my friends and family

Now I can see that 100 years IS NOT ENOUGH TIME

to spend with them

Happiness is your birthright

Your friends and family will help you find it.

I have watched this video over and over and I love its’ message.

We are winners!

We were all born winners. Conception, was the first battle that we have won. Imagine how many sperms fought their way to live. Out of the millions, YOU were the strongest! Nobody was born a LOSER. It is just a state of mind that some people chose to accept as their personality. Think of the people who were born with disabilities, people who are sick who might be happier if they were given what you have now, a complete and healthy body. So before you complain about your salary, your love life, the domestic issues with your parents/relatives, why don’t you think first of your blessings.

Learn to be strong

True indeed that we live in challenging times. One’s life can easily be influenced by merely watching the television (without proper guidance (for kids)), listening to unhealthy music, being with negative people etc… When I was younger, I remember how my aunt and parents would always tell me to choose my friends. By “choosing” they meant not by social status or face value but by their values. And this is a never ending habit that should extend beyond picking friends. You can never go wrong with interacting and being with positive people. Whatever thoughts or advice you believe in becomes you. You have to be careful.

Value relationships

TIME FLIES SO FAST. If everyone can only realize how true this is, maybe they’d lessen their time watching soap operas or playing video games and do something of importance. One’s life can be so busy that he doesn’t even know what it is that will make him happy. We were given a purpose in life. There is always a reason why we were born. And unless we realize what that is, we will continue to be lost, discontented, and we will get tired of life. Others get so busy with work or their business that they neglect their relationships with the people they love. It is “being with them” that really counts. So do the things you’ve always wanted to do. Say and show how much your loved ones mean to you.

Find your purpose in LIFE

In a couple of presentations I did, I have asked the question “Do you want to live till 100?” I was surprised by those people who answered “No” I respect their reasons. They do not want to look old, or do not want to live that old and be sickly. Well, who says being a 100 means you’re weak and will get sick. Look at Lolo Mario! (skip the part where he drinks Coke which isn’t really advisable- maybe on special occasions)

Quoting a book that I’ve read. Dr. Bernie Siegel found that he could predict which of his cancer patients would go into remission by asking the same question that I asked. “do you want to live to be one hundred?” Those with a deep sense of purpose answered yes and were the ones most likely to survive. And yes again for Lolo Mario’s statement that 100 years is not enough time if you are living happily on earth.

Make your body HEALTHY

One of the next important thing after finding your happiness is to take care of your health. How will you get to live to a hundred when you do not even take care of your body? do not even care about the food that you eat? or you stress yourself everyday? I chose the word “MAKE” because for me it is a MUST nowadays for people to LEARN how to be healthy. You can join fun runs to be fit but if you are not eating the right food that your body needs, you will still be prone to sickness.

So how do you get to 100?

1. Eat the right food

2. Exercise

3. Take the effective VITAMINS (I can help!)

4. Do not stress yourself

5. Be happy as often as you could by doing what you love and being with the people you care most

This is the time to be grateful for life! Find your purpose and you’ll find your happiness. Value yourself, your health and live to be a hundred with the people you love the most. Now who wants to reach a hundred years old?

The Tooth Fairy and a Giveaway!

One of the nicest feeling is having your teeth cleaned by a dentist. Isn’t it? For me, the feeling that I have a squeaky clean teeth makes me wanna smile at everyone. I am lazy when it comes to having my teeth checked by the dentist. I once wore braces but for some odd reason, it just made my teeth and bite’s case worse. The other day, I had to undergo a tooth extraction. This is the third that I had to let go. My teeth started to become weak 2 years ago. Had I known that our body stops producing Calcium after the age of 25, I should have done something to strengthen them. Oh well, I bid goodbye to my tooth and said hello to the toothfairy.

Speaking of toothfairy, so do you know why parents tell their kids to put their tooth under the pillow? Let me give you the folklore or the fairytale about it. From what I remember, in the Middle Ages, it was known that evil spirits can gain extreme power once they get to possess a child’s tooth. With this, once a child loses his tooth, the mother would keep the tooth to prevent the evil spirits from getting it. One day, a mother accidentally dropped the tooth of her child which the rat got and hid in between the walls of the house. The mother was so scared if the evil spirits get to possess the tooth. The news spread and it reached the Queen Fairy. She called for the mother and told her that the tooth will be safe with the rat because as long as it keeps the tooth, the evil spirits will not be able to go near it. However, rats leave their hiding places too. For that, the Queen Fairy has issued all Fairies to collect the children’s fallen off tooth. So that the evil spirits won’t find it, the children have to hide the tooth under their pillow so that all fairies would know where to find it. Hence, we have the Toothfairy!

6321563_Bad-Movie-Beatdown-Bad-Movie-Beatdown-Darkness-Falls-2003-jpgFor the bravehearts, there is a movie related to this story. If you want a good scare, you can watch Darkness Falls. It’s a 2003 movie which stars Chaney Kley as the boy who saw the evil spirit when he lost his tooth and was expecting the toothfairy. Everybody thought he lost his mind. After a few years, another boy experienced the same thing. They thought that the boy is just afraid of the dark but later, they realized he was telling the truth.

Darkness Falls–an evil spirit dressed as a Tooth Fairy

Enough of the scary part. At least we now have a better understanding of the fairytale. Anyway, the best part about having tooth extraction is the ice cream! And don’t forget that you have to take Mefanamic to combat the pain when the anesthesia wears off.

This will be the last tooth that I will have removed. (please Lord… I am kind) I thought drinking milk will be enough but I was wrong. Milks stored in Tetra packs contain UVA and UVB blockers. tetra-pack-milk

These chemicals are needed so that the milk won’t get spoiled due to sunlight while it is being delivered from the country it came from to its destination. But these very same chemicals prevents the human body from Vitamin D which is needed for Calcium absorption. What is the use of drinking milk if your body won’t get the calcium anyway?! So now, if you regularly drink milk that you buy from the grocery, sad to say, you are just being fooled. Yes there is Calcium there but they will not be absorbed by your body. It will just become Calcium crystals that in the long run will be detrimental to your health.

So how do we get Calcium? I suggest you drink fresh cow milk- this for a fact is accessible for people in the province. After drinking milk, go outside and get your sunlight! (Morning please- 7am to 10am only) The Sun is the best source of Vitamin D which will help your body absorb the calcium. If we are not lucky to have access to fresh milk, find a good supplement for your bones. Make sure to research on its contents. It doesn’t mean that if a beautiful actress says its good for your bones, it really is. We need the best quality since, as I said, the body stops producing calcium after the age of 25. Some of us might not feel the need, but we all know that the signs will show when its rather too late for any prevention.

I am giving away a 30 day Calcium supplement for my readers.

Death, can you prevent it?

Life is a gift and we should treasure every day because it is a blessing. This post is a little sad because just this week, two people I know have passed away. My Lolo Ric (Eduardo Gonzales), and a student when I was still teaching in Highschool in St. James Academy, Gian Sta. Maria.

Gian died at a young age. Looking back at my early 20s, that was the time when I was at the point of discovering everything about life after college. If he was indeed murdered by a hitman, that is such a coward act. We all know that no one has the right to take someone else’s life for whatever reason. (if you know Gian, please like this page and let’s pray for his soul)

My distant grandfather, the elders in our community say, died a natural death. Dying of cancer is not a natural death. Cancer has been a common cause of death which is probably why others say that it is just natural. “Baby boomers” those aging 60s and above is the first generation of people found to be less healthy than the generation before them. They have developed degenerative diseases. This means that their organs and tissues progressively deteriorate over time due to bodily wear and lifestyle choices or eating habits.

So how many of us know people who are suffering or have died because of Cardiovascular disease (heart attack), Cancer, stroke, respiratory diseases, and diabetes? These diseases do not “just” happen, they are caused by cell deterioration due to stress, radiation from the sun, pollution, toxins in the water, and poor food choices. Our busy lifestyle has lead us to neglect our health. We eat at fast food chains, smoke, drink and party every week, and face so much stress with work everyday.(Notfast_food_kills sure if you are stressed? Take this test ) Some people say that they are healthy because they participate in “fun runs”. Exercise helps but you still are not getting what your body needs from the food you take. Looking at myself months ago, and if I have not realized these things, I might be on my way to developing a degenerative disease which will take me to heaven sooner. (aww!)

When micronutrients like vitamins and minerals are in short supply, this will cause health problems in the long run. Vitamins are defined as substances that the body needs but cannot make or cannot make in sufficient quantities, and obviously, our body cannot make minerals. These two are needed for the repair of our cells. So ask yourself, are you taking care of your body? I for one have not. I was not used to taking vitamins. I had always thought that if it’s your “time”, it’s your TIME! But come to think of it, it isn’t so. The world is such a good place to live in so why would I shorten my stay by living a life that I know would lead to death?

Some people might laugh at this thought. It sounds corny or I sound like a doctor lecturing but let’s see where you will be 5 or 10 years from now. Spending on my dream house, dream car and travelling are far better than spending millions to cure cancer.

stress

So can you really prevent death? if we are talking about diseases, YES, they can be prevented. If you have been neglecting your health, I’ll pause for you to think twice. …………………………

Are your loved ones on the same stressful path too? Then I suggest you take the first step to a new lifestyle for you and your family. We only have one life and we very well know that we should take care of it.

I have seen the pain that Cancer gives not just to the person who has it but also to their families. My grandmother died of Cancer too. I do not want this in my family anymore. So if you care for your love ones, repost this and let everyone be informed. Its time to make a new generation of healthy individuals.
